NASHVILLE, Tenn.--The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting which took place in Wayne County overnight.
The TBI reports a Wayne County deputy encountered a man in the area of Dogwood Flats when the man allegedly fired at the deputy and fled on foot.
The suspect was later located in Collinwood, where he also allegedly fired on a Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) trooper. The trooper and two other law enforcement officers returned fire.
The suspect suffered a gunshot injury but was treated at the hospital and released. He is being held on charges in relation to the shooting but also on an outstanding warrant from Alabama. No officers were injured in the exchange of gunfire.
