NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) - Folks said farewell to "The Gambler" at a Kenny Rogers tribute show in Nashville.

Fans and country music stars flocked to Bridgestone Arena Wednesday night to pay homage to the icon.

Rogers was joined by longtime duet partner Dolly Parton as they made their way down the red carpet.

"You don’t do something for 60 years and just say, 'Hey, I’m leaving,' so you have to kind of plan it and stage it. And when they talked about doing this live show tonight, I said it would be great if we could get Dolly, I won’t do it without her,” Rogers said.

Parton surprised Rogers by singing "I Will Always Love You" to the star, which received a tearful standing ovation.
