Nashville student hit by car while crossing street to school

UPDATE: A young girl was hit while walking to her school's before care program early Wednesday morning.

Metro Police confirm the girl was crossing West Trinity Lane when she was struck. Metro School's confirms the girl was on her way to Haynes Middles School's before care program.

Police said a parent let the girl out of the car just before 7 a.m. when it was still dark out. The little girl was hit while crossing the street and suffered a broken femur.

The driver involved stayed at the crash site and is talking with police. The girl was not in a crosswalk at the time and it was before a crossing guard was on duty.

The student was taken to the hospital.


Metro communications confirms that a juvenile was struck by a vehicle near a middle school Wednesday morning.

It happened near Haynes Middle School along Trinity Lane. Metro Schools said the student was hit by a car while walking to the school's "Before Care" program.

The incident did not happen on school property.

There's no word on the extent of injures.
