Juvenile Crime Task Force arrests eight teens, recover stolen SUV, two pistols, & a rifle

The Juvenile Crime Task officers took eight minors into custody Saturday.

Police say they saw several minors standing next to a stolen 2007 Nissan Pathfinder on South 4th Street in East Nashville.

The vehicle had been stolen Friday evening from a gas station in the 700 block of McFerrin Avenue. Police say the owner left it running and unattended with two pistols and a rifle inside.

Police say as Juvenile Crime Task Force officers approached the vehicle, the teens began to run away.

After a brief foot chase, the teens were taken into custody. None of the teens admitted to driving the pathfinder, but all admitted to being inside it.

Police say one of the minors, a 13-year-old was carrying a stolen pistol that was taken from a vehicle on Stratford Avenue on February 1.

Another pistol was recovered under the I-24 overpass along with keys to the Pathfinder when officers retracted their steps following the arrests.

All teens were taken to the juvenile detention.
