DAYTONA, Fl. (WZTV) — Sponsored by Nashville’s iconic honky tonk Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, Daniel Suarez is in his fifth season in the NASCAR Cup Series and his first driving for the new Trackhouse Racing team co-owned by music star Pitbull.
At media day Wednesday, the Mexican race car driver tells FOX 17 News he’s excited to be at Daytona representing minorities in the "coolest fire suit" of all drivers.
“I have the coolest fire suit of all,” Suarez joked. “You guys can’t miss me.”
Suarez previously ran for Gaunt Brothers racing in 2020, Stewart Haas Racing in 2019, and two seasons with Joe Gibbs Racing before that. Suarez’s best finish is second in 108 Cup Series starts. He won the Xfinity Series Sunoco Rookie of the Year award in 2015, then followed by winning the series championship the next season.

As for the 500, Suarez can’t wait to get to the track, perform well and—most importantly—have fun.
“We’ve already shown we’ve got a fast car, now it’s time for duals, qualifying, practice, set everything up. We’ll take one day at a time and go out there and have fun.”
