NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Dolly Parton grew up in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and has become a national treasure. But the superstar never forgets where she came from and is lending her voice to help celebrate 225 years of statehood for the Volunteer State.
"I am Tennessee proud," Parton said. "I'm proud of our wonderful state, proud to be a born and raised Tennessee girl and I'm proud to be part of all that we represent."
In a new video released by Gov. Bill Lee on Tuesday, viewers are transported across the state over main streets, landmarks and natural scenery all while Dolly sings a track from her 1973 album, "My Tennessee Mountain Home."
Tennesseans are invited to submit their stories in honor of the state's 225th birthday at tennessee225.com.
