Chattanooga Police Department

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.--A Chattanooga Police officer was photographed during an emotional rescue of a little Tennessee boy on Tuesday.

Chattanooga Police shared the photo of CPD Officer Plumee reuniting a 2-year-old boy with his family after the child was taken during a car theft.

Police say the boy was in the car while running and unattended for just minutes when the theft took place in the Ridgedale neighborhood. Police searched the area and located the car and the child in less than an hour.

The child was taken to a hospital for evaluation and the search for the suspect remains. Police say a local resident provided ice for the boy to rub on his back and bring the child's temperature down given he was in a hot vehicle.

Police are reminding residents not to leave children unattended in vehicles even for a moment. Police add the suspect faces charges for kidnapping, endangerment, as well as theft if caught according to WTVC.
