NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- On Saturday, a group of Gallatin High School students and Meharry Medical College researchers teamed up, and used a new method to identify problem areas on walking routes right here in the mid-state.
Using a special app called "Mappler,” the group charted problem areas on school routes around Gallatin High School, in hopes they'll be fixed.
The goal is to encourage kids to walk, getting exercise to and from school, that is why team is treating this topic as a public health issue.
Researchers hope the data will be utilized by Gallatin city leaders.
