Google goes big, building largest solar farms in Tennessee and Alabama
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Google is going big in Tennessee, building one of two new data center campuses and the company's largest solar farm.
The company announced on Wednesday there will be 1.6 million solar panels at the two locations located in Yum Yum, Tennessee and Hollywood, Alabama. -Yes, there is a place called Yum Yum in Tennessee between Memphis and Jackson.
Google says the 1.6 million solar panels will be the equivalent of 65,000 home rooftop solar systems. The projects will be among the largest renewable energy sites in the Tennessee Valley region and are expected to match the electricity used by the new data centers.
The company added they will be working with TVA and the projects will generate millions in economic activity and tax activity.
