Girl Scout cookie season kicks into high gear this week with booth sales
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) -- Girl Scout cookie sales are in full swing this week, as troops prepare booths for the massive fundraiser.
Hundreds of thousands of cookie boxes were distributed this weekend. The "Count and Go" cookie delivery helps the Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee prepare for the largest girl-led business operation in the world.
"It's a super fun way to learn about business," says Girl Scout Amelia Lewis of the cookie booths. "You get to learn about everything. You do a lot of stuff in Girl Scouts and it's just a really good experience."
All of the classic cookie flavors -- Tagalongs, Thin Mints, Samoas, Do-si-dos -- and more are available. There's also specialty flavors.
Cookie boxes range in price from $3.50 to $5 per box.
"For the cookie sales, we do booths and initial orders. We do our best to sell all the cookies we can. We have cookie orders that come in from everywhere and you can set a goal," Lewis says. "My goal is to sell 1,000 boxes of cookies and if I sell 1,000 boxes of cookies, then I can go to a camp for half off."
One hundred percent of the proceeds goes back to girls in the 39 counties Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee serves. A portion goes to improve and maintain camps, volunteer training, and host events and programs for the girls.
