Woman dies after shooting in Gallatin; Suspect in custody

The Gallatin Police Department said a woman was shot and killed in Gallatin on Tuesday night.

Officers said Corey Williams, 24, was arrested on a homicide charge in connection to the shooting.

The woman was taken to a Sumner County hospital in critical condition after the shooting. She later died from her injuries.The GPD said there were children in the car the time of the shooting, but they are okay.

This domestic incident happened just before 7 p.m. Police had warned neighbors to stay inside earlier while they searched for a "dangerous person" on Buffalo Ridge off Hartsville Pike.

A neighbor administered CPR to the woman who was shot. She spoke to Fox 17 News about the moments she took action to help the victim.

Williams was charged with first degree homicide. The victim has since been identified as 22-year-old Lexus Williams.
