Snow possible for parts of Middle Tennessee this weekend
This weekend the SKYWatch17 team is closely monitoring a storm that could potentially bring big impacts to middle Tennessee. It's still early and a lot of uncertainty remains, but it's possible that we could see multiple types of precipitation at different times of day.
Early indications show a storm system sliding into the mid-state by late Friday night and early Saturday morning. Most of the precipitation will be rain, but snow could also show up for folks along and north of I-40. Warmer air is expected to move in by the afternoon to change everything over to a cold rain for the remainder of the day. More rain and snow will continue to mix in for Saturday night and Sunday with little impact expected (for now) as temperatures remain above the freezing mark. If colder air sinks farther south, we could have more winter precipitation (and more impacts) to deal with.
As colder air moves in Sunday evening and early Monday morning, rain showers could change over to light snow for Monday. It's possible we could see minor snow accumulation for some of the mid-state, but again track and timing will determine how much we will see.
There is still uncertainty for this system but the next 24 hours will provide more clarity.
