Female inmate commits suicide at Nashville jail
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —
A female inmate committed suicide at a Nashville jail Friday afternoon, a spokesman for CoreCivic has confirmed.
The unidentified inmate was found unresponsive in her jail cell at Metro-Davidson County Detention Center from an apparent suicide attempt, CoreCivic Public Affairs Manager Rodney King said.
Responding staff began performing CPR and the inmate was transported to a local medical facility where she was pronounced dead.
CoreCivic said Metro Police and the Davidson County Sheriff's Office were both immediately notified. Both agencies are investigating the suicide.
The inmate has not been identified at this time.
