A family is in mourning after a father of five was killed in a South Nashville shooting around midnight on Wednesday.

Family confirms to Fox 17 News that Leondrae Ridley, 37, died after being found shot in a driveway along Flora Maxwell Road.

Ridley’s wife said he was the father to five children, ages 5, 6, 10, 11 and 13. She said Ridley recently graduated from truck driving school, in an effort to provide a better life for his family.

Police said Ridley’s 33-year-old friend was also shot overnight. The friend told Metro Police he and Ridley were sitting in a vehicle outside Ridley's home when they were hit by gunfire. Ridley apparently got out of the vehicle after being hit and the friend drove himself to the hospital. The friend was struck in the wrist and the shoulder and later underwent surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Police believe the shooting victim will be able to provide more details once his medical condition approves.
