NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Evangelist Franklin Graham had some strong opinions on the University of Tennessee's 'Sex Week,' saying the sex education themed week pushes "filthy trash" and is "promoting sin."

Launched by the Sexual Empowerment and Awareness at Tennessee (SEAT) in 2012, organizers say the event 'strives to foster a comprehensive and academically-informed conversation about sex, sexuality, and relationships with the purpose of educating the University of Tennessee student body and the Knoxville community."

This year, the event includes everything from a drag show and the science of abortion to abstinence and virginity. In a Facebook post on Friday, Graham stated he was shocked to see the university "promoting a “Sex Week” for its students."

"They’re actually pushing this filthy trash on young people whose parents are paying good money to send them there for a quality education. What could Chancellor Beverly Davenport be thinking? There’s nothing healthy or educational about all of this. It’s just simply promoting sin," Graham wrote.

The North Carolina-based evangelical went on to call for parents to pull students and for alumni and Tennessee residents to call for an end to 'Sex Week.'

Graham also called on Governor Bill Haslam to step in and pastors to speak out against the promotion.

In just over three days, Graham's post has been shared by over 25,500 people.
