EF-1 tornado hits Gladeville community

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--The National Weather Service confirms an EF-1 tornado touched down in Wilson County Saturday evening.

Surveyors examining the damage estimate the Gladeville community was hit with 100 mph winds.

The community suffered damage to structures, including the Glade Church on Stewarts Ferry Pike, which suffered damage to the exterior of the building. Also, a cross positioned on the roof of the building partially fell through the roof.

The damage forced the church to cancel Sunday services.

Crews worked through the evening to restore power to 1,100 affected residents. Downed trees and power lines covered Stewarts Ferry between 840 and McCrary Road.
