A Davidson County Sheriff's correctional officer was shot and killed by her husband of 18 months in Antioch.

Kirk Williams, 49, shot Corrections Officer Lawanda Steele-Williams, 53, in their home Along Rocky Mountain Court Sunday evening, according to police.

Police said Steele-Williams' daughter hadn't heard from her mom since Friday and went to check on her but found the door was locked. Steele-Williams wasn't answering her phone, but the daughter could hear it ringing just inside the door.

Officers arrived to find husband and wife dead on the kitchen floor with gunshot wounds to their heads. Police said a semi-automatic pistol was found in between them.
