Convicted murderer now charged in deadly East Nashville shooting

A convicted murderer has been charged in a deadly shooting in East Nashville.

Eric Donzell, 34, is charged with the first-degree murder of John S. Moss, 39, back on Dec. 12, 2016.

Moss was found shot in his Chevy Malibu near Marina Street near North 9th Street. Police said Moss' vehicle was still running when officers responded to the shots fired call. A small bag of what appeared to be crack cocaine was found in the front seat of the Malibu.

Moss was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

Jones was convicted of second-degree murder in 1999. At the time he was charges, Jones was already jailed on a probation violation. He also has previous convictions for cocaine and felon in possession of a weapon.
