CODE RED: Tornado watch issued ahead of Tuesday night storms

FOX 17 News is in a Code Red weather alert for the potential of strong storms carrying high winds, hail and a possible tornado on Tuesday night.

A tornado watch has been issued for all of southern Kentucky through midnight on Tuesday. Most of middle Tennessee is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Evening storms have the potential to bring damaging straight-line winds, hail and possible isolated tornadoes.

Folks in Dickson, Clarksville and west should expect storms to move in from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Storms will move into the Metro area from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. and continue to push east from 11 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Microbursts may be possible tonight within the line of storms moving through. Winds could be in excess of 70 to 80 mph. SkyWatch17 Chief Meteorologist Katy Morgan explains:
