CODE RED: Serious flooding expected Friday into Saturday

    FOX 17 News is in a Code Red weather alert for severe storms, heavy rain and flooding potential on Saturday.

    Many parts of middle Tennessee continue to be plagued with flooding after heavy rain fell Wednesday.

    Another 2" to 3" and some spots of 4" of rain is expected Friday into Saturday. The entire midstate is under a Flash Flood Watch through Sunday.

    The National Weather Service also has much the of area under an "Enhanced Risk" or 3 out of 5 of the Severe Outlook Map, for severe storms Saturday afternoon.

    The SkyWatch17 weather team is monitoring the potential for a low-end tornadoes, small hail and straight line winds along with the heavy rain on Saturday.

    With the ground already saturated and rivers, creeks and streams running high, any additional precipitation has the potential to cause flooding.

    Never drive through high water: Turn Around, Don't Drown.

    Everything should dry out by Sunday, but rivers will remain high.
