Manhunt for Waffle House shooter forced school lockouts, shelters in place

Brentwood and Nolensville schools in Williamson County have sheltered in place while the search for the Waffle House shooter has expended into the county.

"Law enforcement is continuing their search for the person suspected in yesterday’s Antioch shooting. Based off of information we have received from law enforcement, the search perimeter is including areas adjacent to Davidson County to include the Brentwood and Nolensville areas.

We have implemented our shelter in place procedure for these schools. We will continue with our instructional day, but principals have been instructed to secure the buildings with limited visitor access. We will not allow students outside for recess or other activities.

There is still no information that the suspect is near our schools, but the search area has expanded into northern Williamson County.

We will continue to work closely with all law enforcement in our county, and we will let you know if the situation changes during the school day." - Williamson County Schools

Metro Nashville schools have canceled all after school activities, including athletics, while a manhunt for a mass shooting suspect is under way.

"In an abundance of caution, we are canceling all after-school activities for today. This is across the district for all schools and includes all activities and athletics." - Metro Schools

Metro and Cheatham Schools operated on a lockout Monday as more than 160 officers search for accused shooter Travis Reinking. Police say Reinking opened fire at Waffle House in Antioch early Sunday morning, killing four people and injuring three others.

Rutherford and Williamson schools also said they are adding extra security.

Cheatham Schools are on lockout due to Waffle House shooter manhunt.

Metro Police, ATF and SWAT are continuing to search for Travis Reinking, who is accused of killing four and injuring three others at Waffle House in Antioch on Sunday morning.

"As a precaution in light of the Waffle House shooting in Nashville on Sunday, all schools in Cheatham County will be in lockout mode. This means that school will go on as usual within the building, but anyone coming into the building is restricted. Thank you for your understanding as we limit people coming into the school until this man is located. As always, the safety of our children is our top priority." - Cheatham County Schools

Metro Schools are also operating on a lockout and have canceled all after school activities on Monday.

Meanwhile, Rutherford County Schools are also taking special precautions due to the manhunt.

"Parents, we do have additional security procedures in place this morning b/c of the situation in Antioch. For safety reasons, we don’t release the exact details but please know we have been working with law enforcement since Sunday to ensure our schools are secure." - Rutherford County Schools.
