BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- A Brentwood police officer is injured after his vehicle is rammed.

Officers responded to Fountainhead Drive for a suspicious vehicle and came across the 2017 black Honda CRV just before midnight Wednesday. Officers set up spike strips to stop the vehicle after the suspects spotted police and sped off.

To avoid hitting the spike strips, the driver hit a parked Brentwood Police vehicle, which no one was inside of at the time. The vehicle then hit Brentwood Police Officer Brien Fletcher.

Officer Fletcher went to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries to his hand.

Police report that the suspect vehicle was stolen out of Nolensville and that it was occupied by two males. It has a Tennessee license plate number FW8348.

Police have since arrested William Moquann Smith, 18, who is charged with aggravated assault, evading arrest by motor vehicle, reckless endangerment and theft of property over $10,000.

Anyone with additional information should call (615)371-0160.
