NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Brentwood is topping the list for the best small cities to live in America.
That’s according to the latest study from WalletHub, which looked at affordability, economic health, education & health, quality of life and safety in more than 1,300 U.S. cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000.
Overall, Brentwood came in with the third highest score, but was bested was Carmel, Indiana and Sammamish, Washington.
Brentwood, about 20 minutes or less from Nashville depending on traffic, got high marks in education & health and quality of life.
Another Middle Tennessee city fared near the top of the list. Franklin came in at 33rd overall and I the 98th percentile for overall livability.
Franklin, nestled in Williamson County, was all named as one of the best places to live in 2021 by Money.com.
WalletHub said small cities say an uptick in popularity over the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In addition to providing a greater degree of social isolation during the pandemic, small-city life can be best for those who appreciate more wiggle room, fewer degrees of separation and shorter commutes, to name just a few of its advantages.”
Some downsides to small-city living, as noted by WalletHub, include fewer restaurant options or shorter business hours.
