The Bedford County Mayor's wife has been charged with 12 counts of drug fraud.

Sherry Denise Graham, wife of Mayor Chad Graham, was indicted Thursday with 12 counts of Obtaining Drugs by Fraud.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents began investigating Sherry in July 2018 and said they discovered she had been fraudulently obtaining drugs from Oct. 2017 to April 2018.

Sherry is being held in Bedford County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

    Chad released the following statement:

As a public figure it is sometimes necessary to layout very private personal parts of one’s everyday life.
Today is one of those days.
My wife, Denise, is the bravest, strongest person I have ever known. I love her very much.
Denise has a disease that the doctors can not cure.
She suffers from Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy also known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.
Over the past several years we have visited Medical Clinics, had experimental stem cell treatments, consulted with specialist and are searching the entire medical community for answers. The Doctors do not know how to cure this disease yet.
Denise’s disorder causes a physical reaction within her autonomic nervous system.
In her physical pain and desperation for relief, she may have made a serious mistake in judgement.
Please know our family is committed to Denise, to her health and continued search for treatment.
We are devastated but not without hope!
Our family and I ask for your prayers, your kindness, understanding, and compassion as we resolve this matter.
There are no simple answers, but we stand by Denise and through God’s grace we will face this issue.
