NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Two people were caught jumping off of a Nashville building on Friday.
The act was caught on video. Amanda Bagley shot video of base jumpers leaping from the Grand Hyatt Hotel rooftop bar on Broadway on New Year's Day. This occurred in front of several surprised onlookers.
Hotel security identified the two men to detectives as a 33-year-old from Big Bear City, California, and a 35-year-old from Los Angeles.
Metro Nashville police say in their incident report that the stunt by the two men at the bar caused mass panic. They say the men landed safely across the road where they left in a car before police arrived.
FOX 17 News reached out to the Grand Hyatt Nashville and they confirmed in their statement that the two men were guests, and that they were evicted and banned from the hotel.
The safety and security of our guests and colleagues is one of our highest priorities. We can confirm that an isolated situation occurred in the early evening on January 1, 2021, at Grand Hyatt Nashville involving two guests of the hotel. Two guests wearing parachutes jumped to the street level from the hotel’s rooftop lounge, which was open to guests and locals. The hotel immediately engaged local authorities, and the guests were subsequently evicted and banned from the hotel. We vehemently condemn this kind of reckless behavior, and further questions regarding this situation may be directed to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
The incident occurred one week after the Christmas bombing less than a mile away.
