AIDS awareness group handing out 10K condoms on Valentine's Day, offering needle exchange
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —
An HIV/AIDS awareness group that is now offering a needle exchange program is using Valentine's Day to hand out 10,000 at Nashville colleges.
"Street Works" announced Wednesday that it is the first certified group in Tennessee to provide the "Syringe Service Program," which passed in last year General Assembly.
The group says the program provides a an opportunity for drug users to exchange dirty needles for clean ones.
While advocating to reduce HIV and AIDS, Street Works will also be handing out condoms to Nashville-ares universities, including Vanderbilt, Fisk and Tennessee State.
