Metro Police said a 74-year-old man was shot to death in south Nashville and several young men, possibly juveniles, were seen running from the scene.

Ruxin Wang was retrieving a trash can when multiple shots were fired, police said.

It happened along Claiborne Street, near J.C. Napier homes, just before 4 p.m. Thursday on what turned out to be a violent evening in Music City.

Witnesses told police they saw several young men, possibly juveniles, running from the scene. They were described as wearing block hooded sweatshirts and khaki pants. Police said they were last seen headed into the public housing complex.

Police are pursuing strong leads, but said the motive of the deadly shooting is still under investigation.

This was one of three shootings in Nashville on Thursday -- including another deadly shooting, unrelated, in south Nashville and a shooting near Kroger in West Nashville.

Anyone with information on the person(s) involved in the gunfire is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
