302 grams of Marijuana found in Super Mario backpack during Nashville traffic stop

Police said 302 grams of Marijuana was found in a Super Mario backpack during a Nashville traffic stop.

At about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday night, two Metro Nashville police officers said they pulled over a Nissan Altima for driving without its taillights on at the corner of Lafayette Street and 4th Avenue South.

According to an affidavit, the officer noticed a strong smell of marijuana while talking with the driver. After being given permission to search the car, all three riders peacefully exited the car, and officers found 50 grams of marijuana, 3 grams of black tar heroin, and a digital scale in the cabin of the car.

After the officers opened the trunk, police discovered a Super Mario themed backpack with 302 grams of weed in it. Also in the trunk was a grocery bag containing 37 grams of opiates and 18.5 grams of Hydromorphone pills.

James Arthur Allen has been charged with possession with intent-heroin, possession with intent-schedule VI, possession with intent-hydromorphone, and being a fugitive. He was wanted for burglary in Alaska, and will soon be extradited to the northern state to face charges. Allen had previously been arrested for assault in Alaska.

The driver of the car, Jaron Watson, was also arrested. His charges are currently unavailable.

A third passenger wasn't charged as of the posting of this article.
