NASHVILLE, Tenn.--29 members of the Tennessee General Assembly have joined the call for Federal lawmakers to object Wednesday's electoral count in Congress.
Tennessee Representative Bruce Griffey (R-Paris), issued a letter to U.S. senators and representatives from Tennessee, calling on them to support an investigation into alleged voter fraud and object to electoral votes from Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Rep. Griffey states: "There is a law from the 1880s known as the Electoral Count Act, which was written to help guide Congress if there is a dispute in a state about which candidate won. It allows members of Congress to challenge a state’s results and make the whole Congress vote on whether to accept the results, and that is exactly what I and a number of my colleagues in the TN legislature are asking our federal counterparts to do.”

The effort is one aimed at disputing the results of the Presidential Election which states have certified and show former Vice President Joe Biden is president-elect with 306 electoral votes to President Donald Trump's 232. However, Rep. Griffey has echoed statements from fellow Trump supporters and the President himself, claiming President Trump "won by a landslide."
"I have always been a Trump supporter since I began to work on his Presidential campaign in July 2015, and always will remain a Trump supporter and I believe that, absent widespread fraud, President Trump would have won in November by a landslide,” Griffey says.
Since Monday, President Trump has claimed on Twitter "How can you certify an election when the numbers being certified are verifiably WRONG," and "How do you certify numbers that have now proven to be wrong and, in many cases, fraudulent!"
Rep. Griffey's letter is addressed to nine U.S. lawmakers from Tennessee, including Senator Marsha Blackburn and Senator Bill Hagerty, who have stated they plan to oppose "tainted" electoral results. Rep. Griffey's letter lists allegations of fraud and irregularities claiming ineligible voters in Georgia cast ballots and voting machine irregularities in five states. "We the undersigned hereby call on the Tennessee federal delegation....to vote on electors presented before the Joint Session on January 6th, 2021," the letter states. The letter is joined by Representatives Clay Doggett, Pat Marsh, Bud Husley, Kent Calfee, Terri Lynn Weaver, Jerry Sexton, Dennis Powers, Dan Howell, Esther Helton, Glen Casada, Tim Rudd, Janice Bowling, Mark Pody, Paul Bailey, Joey Hensley, Frank Niceley, John Crawford, Justin Lafferty, Rick Eldridge, John Ragan, Mary Littleton, Mark Hall, Chris Todd, Dale Carr, Brandon Ogles, Kelly Keisling, Scott Cepicky, and Debra Moody.
In addition, Rep. Scott Dejarlais tweeted Wednesday that he will also be objecting the results.
Representative Mike Stewart (D-Nashville) has called on Sen. Blackburn and Hagerty to provide proof of their allegations the election is "tainted." In a letter sent to the senators, Rep. Stewart asks them to provide "specific examples of violations of law or other actions that you believe justify your refusal to respect the Electoral College vote”.
Rep. Stewart adds "Many citizens in my district would be very interested to know what specific evidence you are relying on as the basis for your unprecedented decision to reject the results....I notice that your public statement contains no such information. Could you please identify the specific examples of violations of law or other actions that you believe justify your refusal to respect the Electoral College vote?"
Former Republican Senator Bob Corker also took issue with the current situation. Corker said via Twitter "I am saddened that some senators plan to undermine our democratic process that gives the American people, not politicians, the right to elect our president."
