Is the triple murder case against former Army Major Christian Martin evaporating?
A former Army officer and American Airlines pilot was arrested for a triple murder on very little evidence. Now five years later and a trial set...there is less evidence than ever.
Former Army Major, Christian Martin is charged with murdering three people in 2015. It is a long very involved story.
But here is what you have to know: Martin was not arrested until three years after the murders and prosecutors kept secret the evidence against him.

A $3 million bond and 2 years in jail. So what is the case against Christian Martin?
The Commonwealth of Kentucky tested all kinds of items for DNA at the murder scene and none of that DNA matched Christian Martin.
So they found new evidence and sent it to the FBI for more elaborate testing.
“Lo and behold it all comes back negative. It exonerates Christian Martin. The case against Mr. Martin is evaporating, “ said his attorney Tom Griffiths.
So what exactly is the evidence against Christian Martin? It is ballistics. A shell casing the prosecution says belonged to a bullet fired from Major Martin’s gun was found on the scene but here is the big problem with that...the shell casing was not discovered by police and not discovered at the time of the murder.

“It was recovered later in a mysterious circumstance by people related to the case, one of the people who turned it in failed a polygraph on how it got there,” said Griffiths.
The bullets that killed the victims cannot be linked to Martin’s gun. That’s according to the Kentucky State police.
Now the defense finally gets the bullets and sends it to an independent expert who takes it one step further and says it's unlikely those bullets came from Christian Martin’s gun.
“That’s huge! If this ballistics is the heart of the case they don’t have a case,” said Griffiths.
Remember this all began when Martin told his wife he wanted a divorce. He found out she was a bigamist and she then brought abuse charges against Martin which led to a court martial.
The abuse charges fell apart. One of the murder victims was supposed to testify in the court martial, a motive but for who?
But it is unclear if he was testifying for Christian Martin or against Martin’s ex-wife. He died before we ever found out.
And now Christian Martin must wait until may of 2021 to finally be able to defend himself.
