Tiger Snatches Woman In Front Of Husband

A tiger has snatched a woman and dragged her into a forest in India as her husband watched on helplessly.

The couple and a boat driver were catching crabs in a shallow river in the Sunderbans forest, West Bengal on Friday when the attack happened, the Associated Press reports.

The tiger emerged from the undergrowth and pounced on the woman before dragging her into the forest.

The woman's husband reported the attack and forest guards searched for the woman but couldn't find any trace of her, forest official Nabin Chandra Bahunguna said.

The area is a known danger zone for tiger attacks.

The latest tiger attack is the sixth this year in the Sunderbans, where environmentalists say shrinking habitat is forcing tigers to venture further in search of food.
