Freeze Warning, Cumberland Plateau Advisory

Winter-like conditions will be possible for middle Tennessee this weekend. A freeze warning is in effect for Friday and Saturday night. Temperatures will drop to around the freezing mark in Nashville and upper 20s outside the metro area. Saturday night will be even colder with temperatures dropping as low as the mid-20s outside the metro. Breezy NW winds will add to the chill. In addition to the cold, rain showers along the Cumberland Plateau will change over to light snow overnight.

Antioch Sex Offender Arrested in Davidson Co. Days After Assaulting Ky. Police Officer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A registered Nashville sex offender who assaulted a Kentucky officer a couple days ago is behind bars in Davidson County this morning.

Derrick Lane Coakley, 25, of Antioch, allegedly assaulted an Elizabethton officer Sunday in an attempt to escape an arrest warrant, according to the Elizabethton Star newspaper. He is also charged with resisting arrest and vandalism in the incident.

Coakely was convicted of statutory rape in 2011 and 2007, according to the sex offender registry. He is now in the Davidson County jail charged with a second offense felony sex offender registration violation. His bond is $10,000.
