Franklin Man Allegedly Beats Woman Unconscious in Front of Six-Day-Old

FRANKLIN, Tenn-- 31-year-old Jesus Perez-Ayala of Franklin was arrested by Franklin police last night after allegedly beating a woman all while their six-day-old baby was lying beside her.

According to police, Perez-Ayala threw her down, choked her unconscious, stepped on her chest and hit her in the face with his elbow. He then hit her with a belt in the face and leg. To ensure she wouldn't call police, the man broke her cell phone.

The woman was able to escape the Downs Blvd. apartment and was forced to run "several miles" with her baby in tow for help. Officers responded to the woman just before midnight, where she was taken to the hospital for treatment. Ayala was arrested for aggravated felony assault and preventing a 9-1-1 call. He is currently being held on $25,000 bond.
