DOWELLTOWN, Tenn. -- Three men accused of assaulting and kidnapping a couple in De Kalb County are behind bars.

The sheriff's department arrested 42-year-old Jimmy Tolbert (J.J.) Hendrixson, Jr., 36-year-old Casey Joseph Jacobs and 48-year-old Comas Brian Higgins, each of Old Snow Hill Road. Police say they met a man and woman on on a bridge on New Bildad Road Friday and assaulted them with an ax handle.

The victims allegedly held them against their will by tying them up with rope and putting tape over their mouths. The man, however, managed to escape and get help.

Police later took the woman into safe keeping after finding her at the house on Old Snow Hill Road, before arresting the suspects.

Neither victim was seriously injured. No word on the motive, but the case remains under investigation.

Each face $150,000 bond for two counts of aggravated kidnapping. They will be in court July 31.
