Tavern, Apartments Destroyed in Fire at Former VFW in Ashland City

ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. -- A former VFW building caught fire this morning in Cheatham County.

Multiple fire departments responded to a fire at The V Tavern at the 2400 block of River Road at 2:30 a.m. The building was engulfed in flames when crews arrived.

Two families are displaced from apartments that were on the second floor, according to the fire department. No injuries are reported.

They say the fire appears to have started in a shed behind the apartments.
The cause is under investigation.
