NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A woman fighting colorectal cancer is urging other young people to get tested.

The CDC says colorectal cancer is the second-deadliest cancer and studies suggest it's on the rise among young Americans.

Mandy Roberts of Nashville is in her 30s.  She plans to beat the disease and then create an advocacy group to educate other young people about cancer prevention.

"We're just going to start making it so that nobody has to fight it alone," Roberts said.

Roberts said young people are less likely to have health insurance and are less likely to volunteer for preventive screenings.
