VUMC Employees Face Salary Cuts -- Erika Lathon

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- Fox 17 has just learned that hospital employees were notified today of salary cuts .Some employees base salaries will be cut by five percent.

There will be no yearly raises for employees, and as a cost cutting measure changes to flexible medical spending plans. The medical center says this could be paid back if the medical center meets the budget for 2015.

This news comes as vice chancellor for health Jeffrey Balser, head of the medical school and Vanderbilt Chancellor Nicholas Zeppos both got hefty raises.  Last year Vanderbilt laid off over a thousand employees. 

Fox 17  has reached out to Vanderbilt leaders for comment.
