Metro Police are Investigating a Rookie who Came to Work Intoxicated

Nashville, TN--

A Metro police officer is in trouble for reporting for duty drunk.

Officer Nathan Silvers is under investigation for showing up at the South police precinct drunk and carrying a gun. The 33 year old admitted to drinking several beers.

Supervisors allegedly noticed Silvers was intoxicated. Before the midnight shift, he was decommissioned and driven to his home and told to report to headquarters Monday.

It wasn't until this afternoon that Silvers was booked on DUI, unlawful gun possession while under influence and violation of implied consent. Silvers has been on the force for 7 months.

Police chief Steve Anderson has launched an internal investigation into why Silvers was not immediately arrested. Pending a full review by the office of professional accountability, Captain Kenny Dyer and Sgt Terrence Bradley have been decommissioned.
