Washington Man Charged with Transporting 61 Pounds of Marijuana

A Washington man was charged with transporting nearly 61 pounds of high-grade marijuana to Nashville, according to a Tuesday press release from the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Daniel Lee Barton, 57, of Yakima, Wash., was stopped on I-24 near Joelton by Interstate Interdiction Officer Thomas Spence for following too closely. Spences police dog, Caine, sniffed Bartons vehicle and alerted Spence to the presence of a drug odor. The marijuana, valued at more than $180,000, was found in the trunk of Bartons rental Nissan Altima.

Barton's bond was set at $76,000.
