New York 9-Year-Old Considered Obese by City

FOX NEWS--A New York mother is speaking out against the city's "Fitnessgram" program which assesses student's health by measuring their body mass index percentages and overall health. 


9-year-old Gwendolyn Williams (pictured above) was one of those students. According to her assessment, he is considered overweight and in the 88th percentile. Gwendolyn is just 4-foot-1, 66-pounds. 


According to her mother, she's never believed she had a weight problem...until now.

"That night, I caught her grabbing the skin near her waist, and she asked me, 'is this what they were talking about?...It was awful to see."


870,000 students take home the fitnessgram and opponents believe the program is more hurtful than helpful.
