Stream WZTV Fox 17 Newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5am and News at 9pm.

The man killed in a motorcycle crash in the 600 block of Moormans Arm Road has been identified as Corey A. Hockett II, 25, of Avenue North, according to a press release from the Nashville police department.

A woman who is presently presumed to have also been on the motorcycle, Sharita Johnson, 23, is in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Police responded to the area at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday after a passerby discovered a woman on the side of the road who was bleeding and appeared to have been beaten. The woman was unable to say what happened to her.

During a follow up investigation Wednesday afternoon in an effort to find clues as to what happened to Johnson, officers discovered a crashed 2002 Kawasaki motorcycle in very thick brush down an embankment. Hocketts body was nearby. Evidence at the scene indicated that the motorcycle ran off the left side of the roadway after coming out of a curve and traveled into the brush. It has not been determined whether the crash occurred overnight or after sunrise.

Johnsons injuries appear consistent with a motorcycle crash. Officers will attempt to speak with her when her medical condition allows, the release said.
