Officials have identified the two animal control officers who were put on administrative leave in the case of 38 dogs found in a north Nashville home being used for dog fighting.

They are JD White and Billy Biggs. Officials stressed that they have not been charged and that internal processes, rather than the two individuals, are being investigated. At issue is the lack of documentation relating to two calls to the residence in question. In 2010, animal control officers received a complaint of animal cruelty. In 2013, they received another one for dog fighting. Officials said they are very concerned because there was no paperwork completed on the calls, or at least not any on file.

Additionally, officials reported Thursday one of the 38 dogs has died. The dogs are currently being housed in a government center, a nonprofit shelter and an undisclosed kennel. Five dogs at the undisclosed kennel escaped and started fighting. A couple of dogs were injured and another died as a result of the fight. There was no information on how many dogs remain at the undisclosed kennel.
