A Clarksville man has been charged with the hit and run of a woman earlier in the month, according to a Clarksville Police Department press release sent out Wednesday.

The release said Scott Lee Murphy, 30, was taking into custody on Tuesday on outstanding warrants.

"Mr. Murphy stated he had outstanding warrants and was scared and did not know what he struck with the vehicle," the release said.

On April 4 at 9:53 p.m., the car of 18-year-old Dashawna Saunders, of Clarksville, was struck by another vehicle on SR-236 (Tiny Town Rd) and Twelve Oaks Blvd. Saunders was flown by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was in stable condition and was expected to recover.

The release did not say how Murphy was apprehended.

According to Wednesday's release, Murphy's license was revoked in 2007. His bond was set at $15,000.
