REPORT: More Using Food Stamps Than Women Working Full Time

Stream WZTV Fox 17 Newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5am and News at 9pm.

A new report says the number of people collecting food stamps in America outnumbers women working full time.

According to the Department of Agriculture, over 46 million people were participating in the food stamp program during an average month in 2012. Just over 44 million women worked full time in 2012 according to a Census Bureau report.

In 2013, the number of people using food stamps jumped to over 47 million people. The recession, an aging population and unemployment are considered factors causing the rise in food stamp use.
