Tennessee Lags Behind in Teacher Pay -- Meagan O'Halloran

It's been a tough week for teachers and many of them are upset with Governor Bill Haslam. This after the governor broke his promise to teachers, taking away pay raises for the upcoming school year. Local teacher unions say the governor backed out of the two percent pay raise to meet the state budget after incoming tax collections were off. Educators want the governor to know how disappointed they are. In response to all of this Metro schools are still pursuing salary increases for teachers even though the governor cant make it happen.The school board made a budget proposal to add in the 2% pay raise next school year.
