Alabama Pastor Charged With Rape, Sodomy of Teen Family Member

Stream WZTV Fox 17 Newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5am and News at 9pm.

An Alabama pastor has been arrested for allegations he raped and sodomized a 14-year-old family member for three years. Police say William Best Jr, pastor of Living Waters Church, abused the minor at his home and also at the church he served.

According to the Selma Times Journal, Best allegedly had sex with the girl "dozens of times" and a computer at the church office was seized in what is believed to contain pornographic images of the girl.

The girl told her mother about a recent incident last week which caused the family to contact authorities, leading to the pastor's arrest. Bond was originally set at $250,000 but was increased to $2 million, possibly the highest ever for Dallas County because of things which "came out" during the investigation and warranted a larger bond, leaving many to believe more charges will be coming.

The court-appointed attorney for Best says he is "devastated" and "worried about his family."
