A 4-year-old girl was hit by a truck on Wednesday in Murfreesboro, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Sgt. Bill Miller.

The girl, Alyza Jenkins, was flown by LifeFlight to a Vanderbilt hospital for immediate treatment.

In an email to media, Miller said a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling on Laurel Lane when a child attempted to cross the street from a neighbor's house to go back to her home.

The driver has been cited only with not wearing a seatbelt. It was not known if more charges are possible.
