Knife In Trunk Leads to Ohio Student's Arrest

Stream WZTV Fox 17 Newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5am and News at 9pm.

FOX News-- An Ohio student fears he could lose his dream of joining the Army after he was arrested and kicked out of school for having a pocket knife in his car. Sound familiar? Recently, a Clarksville teen faced suspension after he took his father's car to school and a search turned up his father's fishing knife.

But unlike the Northeast High School student, this Ohio boy declined to allow his school to search his car and requested he speak to his lawyer or father. He was denied that option and school officials called police. What they found was a 3-inch knife and an Airsoft gun. That was enough for police to charge him with illegal conveyance of a weapon onto a school.

Jordan Wiser spend 13 days in jail as a result of his arrest and says the knife was part of a first-responder kit which would allow him to cut an accident victim's seat belt. The knife was found inside his EMT medical vest in the trunk of his car. As for the Airsoft gun, it's not illegal.

The arrest once again brings up many school's zero tolerance policies. Weigh in on the FOX 17 Facebook Page and tell us how you feel about this case.
