Hendersonville Police Nab Suspects with Multiple Warrants

Hendersonville police said in a press release on Tuesday that a man and woman arrested for shoplifting at Kohls on Monday have arrest warrants in other jurisdictions.

Stephen D. Pyles, 40, and Ashley P. Caruthers, 27, were arrested after being suspected of shoplifting and allegedly trying to flee Monday afternoon.

The release said police responded to the Kohls on 1010 Glenbrook Way in Hendersonville after receiving a report of shoplifting by a man and a woman. Police saw the suspects get into a maroon Honda sedan. They pulled the car over, but the suspects allegedly sped away before crashing. The release said both suspects got out of the crashed car, and Caruthers tried to run away on foot before being apprehended.

The release said merchandise was recovered from the car, both suspects are homeless and they have warrants in Georgia, Williamson County, Rutherford County, Putnam County and Nashville.

Pyles was charged with two counts of theft of property less than $500; theft of property over $1,000; simple possession of Schedule VI narcotics; drug paraphernalia; shoplifting; possession of Schedule IV narcotics; possession of Schedule II narcotics for resale; two counts of aggravated assault; reckless endangerment; evading arrest; resisting stop, halt, and frisk; driving on a suspended drivers license; and violation of financial responsibility law.
 
Caruthers was charged with possession of Schedule II narcotics for resale; theft of property under $500; theft of property over $1,000; possession of Schedule VI narcotics; possession of Schedule IV narcotics; and possession of drug paraphernalia.  
 
Both Pyles and Caruthers were booked into the Sumner County Jail. Their court date was set for April 9 at 9 a.m. The bond was set at $80,000.00 for Pyles and $15,000.00 for Caruthers.
