A Nashville attorney scored big in a case of a long lost championship ring.
Grover Collins of the Collins law firm got a surprise call from California Tuesday afternoon.

The sheriffs department seized a 24-karat ring that had an identifying marking on it.

It turns out that someone stole Collins state championship football ring in 2001 in Franklin.

He never thought it would turn up again. How it made it all the way to California is a mystery. A determined deputy tracked down Collins through his LinkedIn account online.

The ring traveled 2,145 miles start to finish. There is no timeline yet on when exactly Collins will get the ring.
